Presenter: Anthony Smith, Retired U.S. Army Major. Sponsored by ASU Disability Services and Delta Sigma Omicron (DSO) . Wounded by a rocket-propelled grenade and flat-lined by the time the medics reached him, this ex-Army Major beat all of the odds and has a compelling story of courage and trials to share. March 12, 2008 - The Miracles Performance and Symposium.
The Miracles, a group of musically-gifted adults, live at The Baddour Center in Senatobia, MS. The center is a residential community that is designed for adults with intellectual disabilities. They have performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C and at the White House. Contact: Vaneta Harvey. Sponsored by: ASU Disability Services, JHDC, BCM and DSO. Wednesday, March 12, Performance at 12:00 noon, Student Union Center Court. Symposium at 1:00-4:00 pm, Mockingbird Room.

 

November 14, 2007  - Thanksgiving Basket for students in need. At least 25 baskets will be ready to be picked up November 15.

November - Angel Tree. DSO is collecting and distributing gifts for families in need. Anyone or any organization interested to donate gifts, please pick up an angel(s) at DSO office or Disability Services. 

Saturday, December 8, 2007 - Christmas Party. Pavilion. Time: 6:30 p.m. Food & Games. Activities: Dirty Santa, Face Paint, Family/Group Pictures, etc.

October 13 - Homecoming Tailgate Party, The Pines (by the Football stadium, look for DSO white tent).

September 19, 2007 - ASU Organizational Fair. Student Union. 10 - 2 p.m.

Saturday, September 22, 2007 - Breakfast Fundraising (Menu: Pancakes, Sausages & Bacons). Pavilion. Time: 7:30 - 10:30 am. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Food Drive Challenge - February 27, 2007 @ 11:00 am—3:30 pm, Student Union Courtyard.

Delta Sigma Omicron is challenging each individual, department, and organization on campus to donate canned food for The Salvation Army shelter.

Trophies will go to the top three organizations/departments/individuals that contribute the most donations. Organizations & departments who participate will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.

To participate, simply drop off your donation and we will record the contribution of each organization/department/individual. Free hot chocolate, cookies, and drinks 

 

Win a 20" TV fundraising - All proceeds will go towards individuals students with Disabilities. Tickets are $1.00 each. The drawing will be held on March 29, 2007.

Christmas Party - Thursday, December 7th at the Pavillion from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm. This will be a Christmas Dinner for members, spouses, and families followed by a "Dirty Santa" gift exchange ($1 limit on gifts please!) and karaoke fun! 

                    

Salvation Army Angel Tree - We will be at the Mall at Turtle Creek on Saturday, December 9th, from 10 am - 9pm. We need volunteers to work a one or two hour shift. The times from 10 am through 2 pm have already been covered, so we need volunteers from 2 pm - 9 pm. Please email DSO at deltasigmaomicronasu@yahoo.com if you would like to volunteer.

Christmas Angel. December, 2006.  DSO is collecting Christmas gifts for several children who need them.

Two colors to choose from: pink and blue. All orders must be prepaid by September 22. Orders may be given to any DSO board member or Christina or Jane of Disability Services.

 

 

Fund Raiser - Donate a dollar for a chance to win a 20 inch flat screen TV with a panasonic stand.  Your donation will make a dream come true for a 6 year old boy with cancer. His dream is to go to Disney World. Donations will also help cover his medical expenses. The drawing will be on April 5. Each ticket cost $1.

Yard and Bake Sale, Saturday, April 22, ASU Pavilion.

LUAU 2006, Saturday,  April 15 @ 7:30 pm in the ASU Pavilion. Rhyme and Reason Band will be playing live. There will be lots of food and fun for everyone. RSVP by April 10.

Thanksgiving baskets, November 15, 2004 --> DSO is giving away thanksgiving baskets for students registered with Disability Services. The entries for drawing must be received by November 12.

Salvation Army Angel Tree --> DSO is volunteering for the event on December 4 in Indian Mall.

Delta Sigma Omicron hosted the 3 on 3 Wheelchair Tournament. For further information regarding the Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, please see the information below.

3 on 3 WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL
    Tournament

WHO:  ASU Students/ Faculty/Staff  Teams maybe be co-ed, combination of  students/faculty/staff
              Fraternities/Sorority may sponsor a team, or just organize an  independent team

WHAT:  3-on-3 wheelchair basketball.
                Regulation basketball will be played with only  modification consisting of:

 a)       remain seated in a wheelchair  (chairs provided)
b)      two pushes of wheelchair before either dribbling or passing the ball
c)      every team will have at least one female

**It is helpful to wear gloves.
 

Game is limited to 15 minutes or first team to score 5 points   (1 point per basket)

WHERE:     HPESS Complex

WHEN:             September or October  4:15  Tournament play begins.
Skill Training
:      TBA, Demonstration of chair use and wheelchair basketball
                        
**note : type of tournament will be dependent on # of participants

 COST:             $25.00 per team, funds contributed towards the Disability Services Scholarship Fund

Prizes:            T-shirts presented to 1st, 2nd  and 3rd place teams
