Accessible Labs Web Accessibility Workshops

Assistive Technology Workshops

Disability Services offer workshops for faculty, staff and students regarding web accessibility, assistive technology software and devices. Workshops are individual and/or group workshops.

Group workshop is offered during Disability Awareness Week annually in the Spring. Individual workshop can be scheduled anytime.

To inquire about these workshops, call Christina Laurentia at Disability Services (Ph:(870) 972-3964). All workshops are free to students, faculty and staff. All Workshops are hands-on using a computer.

Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 2:00—3:30 p.m. This beginner's workshop offers a hands-on opportunity to learn to create a web page using Microsoft Frontpage. Techniques include: designing a webpage layout, creating multiple links/pages;  formatting tables, texts, and background; inserting images, buttons, and animations.  Posting your site on the web. Adaptive technology (i.e.: screen reader, screen magnifier, etc) will be integrated as necessary.

* Thursday, March 10, 2005 @ 3:30 - 4:30 pm.

   Topics: Using text-to-speech engine to improve comprehension and reading speed, scanning techniques, active reading and vocabulary skills, outlining and note taking, test preparation and test-taking skills, and tips on writing.

 

 * Friday, March 25, 2005 @ 3:00 -4:00 pm.

   Topics: Scanning techniques, navigating with OpenBook, using Email, adjusting speech settings and other settings, using dictionary and thesaurus, using OCR Correction engine, customizing low vision settings, etc.

 

 * Tuesday, March 29, 2005 @ 3:30 - 4:30 pm.

   Topics: using speech features, magnification and zoom window sizes, color filter, DocReader, mouse cursor enhancement, tracking, Hotkeys, etc.

        Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at 2:00—3:30 p.m.

 Topics cover: creating and formatting slides; working with tables; using animation and templates; inserting hyperlink, WordArt, sounds, video clips; viewing the presentation; etc.

 *Essentials of Windows

Monday, November 17, 2003 at 2:00-3:30 p.m.

 This beginner's hands-on workshop teaches students on using a computer. Topics cover include: customizing desktop; searching for files, looking up help, saving deleted files, and working with Microsoft word. Adaptive technology (i.e.: screen reader, screen magnifier, etc) will be integrated as necessary.
